About Karen

I chose the name Lilyvalley for my blog, because, the lily of the valley is a beautiful flower with such a sweet fragrance, that grows even in difficult places. In the Bible, in Song of Solomon, the king is compared to the lily of the valley and the rose of Sharon. We are the sweet aroma of Christ, especially when we choose to praise God even in the hard times. Only in this short lifetime do we have the privilege of offering our Savior a sacrifice of praise in the midst of the storms.

2 Corinthians: 14 But thank God! He has made us his captives and continues to lead us along in Christ’s triumphal procession. Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume.

In 1990, I moved from Georgia, home of fried peach turnovers, homemade peach ice cream, pecan pie and boiled peanuts, to Indiana, home of corn. I don’t even like corn! I should have seen red flags when I asked what Hoosier meant and nobody in Indiana knew. All kidding aside, I have learned to love Indiana and have found a wonderful church here and we are praying for revival, especially among the youth.

I served for ten years as a developmental therapist for babies and toddlers. I have taught preschool, elementary school, high school students, and I am now working with adults and seniors with special needs. I guess you could call it “lifelong learning”!

I had four children (Caleb is now with Jesus) and now have four grandchildren and one on the way. I am divorced.
